I've wanted to recreate the Ghostbusters Library Ghost scene for a long time, luckily with help from a friend lending me the figure I managed to proudly recreate this iconic scene all practically with very little digital work.
I shot this scene using and old theatrical trick called 'Peppers Ghost' which involves placing a piece of glass at an angle and reflecting the figure into the glass, when the figure is lit it gives that transparent ghost effect into the glass without the need for any digital fudgery. Then once the shot was done I digitally darkened the book she's holding to make it look solid and then flipped the photo to replicate the original scene.
Yes, I could have just done it digitally and it probably would have looked better quality and more crisp but where's the fun in that?
